"Epic" is another word that is used all too often when describing, well, anything these days. But "Far Away from the Sun" may as well redefine the word. There are so few albums that have ever truly encapsulated a feeling or emotion to it's most precise point. Truly, this jewel of a record makes you feel exactly what the title of it entails: far away from the sun, far away from light, far away from warmth. It's absolutely more than just a "melodic black metal" album. Due to the circumstances of the time, Sacramentum was overlooked, and still widely is to this day. But while they were overlooked, they have overachieved, and gone far beyond the pack. The upper echelon can only house so many, and "Far Away from the Sun" has a seat among that gilded elite. In my eyes, it is the audio equivalent of a Renaissance painting, the Sistine Chapel of black metal records, if not a more broad scale. It more than deserves to be the tome in which all black metal takes a page from moving forward.
