Rwake – Hell Is A Door To The Sun CD
Clean and frail melodies are the lead characters propped up by thudding drum and bass support. The playing is loose, to say the least, but it works well in their slow-motion sludgy way. Swirling high-note melodic phrasing is kept aloft with the aforementioned solid rhythm section. The production of the recording may amplify this as there is a lack of bridging between bass and treble levels & the bass drum is noticeably splotchy during the heavier moments of Unleashing Cosmic Destruction. Over time, this becomes more of a charm to this particular band rather that a noted detriment.
