NEON NIGHTMARE - Faded Dream LP (Iridescent Blue Marble Vinyl)
Includes a folded 11" x 22" lyric/credits insert.
As a huge Type O Negative fan, I have been searching for a band that captures the same magic and tone as Type O. There have been a few bands that have come close, but none have come closer than Neon Nightmare and this release of theirs in particular. Some may call it derivative (but what modern metal band isn't at this point?), some may call it a rip-off, but I see it more as a love letter that seeks to recapture the Type O sound in a new way. The fact that Neon Nightmare is very up front about the Type O influence (I mean just look at their logo and this album cover) shows this. I'm surprised to see how many Type O fans seems to hate Neon Nightmare––they seem to look past this aspect and paradoxically hate that this band "copies" Type O without properly emulating Type O 100% exactly either. It's quite odd.
