NECROPHAGIST - Epitaph CD

If you’re into technical and progressive metal. Specifically progressive extreme metal. Then I don’t have to explain much about who or how influential Necrophagist is. This technical death metal band has inspired countless other copycats and musicians to play in the style of chaotic tech death that they did. They only managed to put out 2 records. With their last and second album “Epitaph” being probably their most well-known record. This album is a technical death metal classic that is an essential listen for any progressive extreme metal fan.

Many technical/progressive death metal bands lack the songwriting skills to make great songs. Yes, many of these people are extremely talented and skilled musicians. However, you need to make well-crafted songs to back it up. Being overly technical and blasty doesn’t make your record good. And I’m glad to say that Necrophagist isn’t one of these bands in my eyes. They got the songwriting to back them up 100%. This album is filled with tons of tight guitar work at the hands of Muhammad Suicmez. As well as aggressive drums, hooky tempo changes, and guttural vocals that lean more towards brutal death metal.
