The most improved thing about Instictus Bestialis besides the production is the songwriting. Infernus crafted better songs this time with careful melodic progressions and thoughtful structures, delivering a sense of variety, heaviness and dynamics much needed in Quantos. The album features both brutal moments and 'sensitive' construction, where the aim and the mood of each section effectively moves the listener to where the piece needs; Ad Omnipotens Aeterne Diabolus for example, moves from an arpeggiated mournful intro to a ferocious barrier of blasting and dissonant tremolo riffing, just to fall into a more epic and melodic chorus with brilliant chord progressions. Rage also changes from a more standard brutal punishment to an excellent break of melancholic arpeggios.
