Godflesh - Streetcleaner CD

Where other forms of extreme metal like death metal at the time sounded triumphant and mighty, this album here sounds utterly defeatist and hopeless in its fundamental aspiration. It might be said it feels like it even carries a certain form of death at its core. The very motion of the album is one of resigned indolence. There's an impending nihilism that inhabits the whole album. It believes in no ideal, fosters no semblance of hope, and just is - absurdly and with no particular meaning.
