FROZEN SOUL - Glacial Domination CD

Frozen Soul released their sophomore album “Glacial Domination” in 2023. And since then these guys have been on a roll. Touring with legends like Obituary, Cannibal Corpse, and Amon Amarth to name a few. With this record, Frozen Soul can be seen exploring new sounds and exiting their comfort zone a bit. I was a very big fan of their debut offering “Crypt of Ice”. Mostly because it offered such a straightforward osdm sound yet it was so engaging. They were able to create a fantastic album using such a blunt and slightly formulaic style. And on “Glacial Domination” you get those same elements. But with a little more expansion.

From the beginning of the banger that is “Invisible Tormentor” Frozen Soul immediately lets you know who they are. With its opening blast betas and chunky grooves, this is 100% Frozen Soul. Continuing to showcase their love of Bolt Thrower and more hardcore adjacent death metal. This album is still aggressively unapologetic no matter what. However, this album seems to explore much more than just being straightforward. Some people seemed to love this, and some people seemed to think they should’ve stuck with their straightforward formula. For me, I didn’t care. This album is still Frozen Soul and I very much enjoyed these new elements.
