Drip, The – A Presentation Of Gruesome Poetics - Single Sided, Etched -LP
The Drip is a United States grindcore act that has been around since 2007. This marks their third release, and third EP. I had not heard the other albums from the band, but I have heard the name quite a bit, as they have been mentioned among some grind bands like Nasum who I still miss. I was incredibly excited to hear this record and finally experience what the band was all about.
First things first, this EP is no nonsense. 6 track in barely over 12 minutes. Safe to assume here that we wont hear any long instrumental prog passages. From track 1 until track 6, the album is a non stop onslaught of aggression and intensity. The vocals tend to stay in a higher registered scream, the music is cacophonous, and heavy as hell. The production is clear, and everything sounds so good together, despite being a wall of sound. Every instrument stands out, which is a great thing since it is obvious these musicians are talented as hell.
An EP is a great way to get an introduction to a band, and this was the perfect starting point to get into The Drip. Obviously grindcore bands have short songs, short albums, all to the point, and usually very little filler. However, I am saddened that this is only an EP. The 6 songs on here are so good, and the band impressed me so much that I want more. A lot more. I will eagerly await a full length from this band, and hopefully we will get one sooner than later. Do yourself a favor and check these guys out. The Drip is a name to remember.
