CARNAGE - Dark Recollections Digi-CD
Swedish death metal. A style of extreme metal that is highly popular among the underground. And a style that has been widely influential in spawning hundreds of bands that follow in its footsteps. You have the main acts like Entombed, Dismember, Grave, and Unleashed. But a surprisingly lesser-known (yet very beloved group) that has members from said main acts is Carnage. A very short-lived band that contained members of Dismember, Entombed at the time, and later on Carcass and Arch Enemy (Micheal Amott). They managed to put out one album “Dark Recollections” in the 2 years they were a band. To this day it is still hailed as an underrated classic in Swedish death metal.
This band much like its counterparts has a very raw and unapologetic sound. It’s filled with many of the sounds that you would associate with Entombed or Dismember. It’s got fast-picked tremolos, gut-punching grooves, and relentless drums. It’s got that classic chainsaw HM-2 guitar tone that many extreme metal fans love and worship to the moon and back. This album runs for over 38 minutes and leaves no room for survivors. Tempos on each sound usually range from fast to mid-paced beats and riffs. Splicing in some slightly punky notes and sections here and there as well. Each song is a very blunt, memorable, and aggressive beatdown to the skull.
