Death metal isn’t living a good period due to the various boring and weak releases by some of the most famous bands of the past. Actually, I don’t like modern stuff too in death metal because often they are too cold for the production and the technique seems to be the only important point for those bands. They left the passion behind, the intensity, to point everything on the sheer speed of execution forgetting what real death metal is about. Recently Obituary, Pestilence and Suffocation let me down and I didn’t know how to take this return of Asphyx. I was doubtful but since the release date there was something that attracted me in a way I haven’t experienced recently. My doubts were soon erased because Death…The Brutal Way could be already the best 2009 extreme album.
