I’m absolutely flabbergasted that Sear Bliss, particularly their early career developments, haven’t seen much attention lavished on them. This debut full-length, entitled ‘Phantoms’, for example, is still a sweet little virgin looking for that special someone to come along and sweep it off its feet. Let me try to impart some much needed wisdom upon this beautiful debut. For anyone that knows my tastes, which have swayed heavily towards black metal over recent years, it may come as a surprise that I’ve neglected Sear Bliss up until recently. Before ‘Phantoms’, I had heard one Sear Bliss album, many moons ago, though I recall not liking it in the slightest. Oh, how things have changed. Over the past year, particularly in the last few months, I’ve been revisiting a lot of bands that I didn’t like a number of years ago to see if I had changed in terms of my tastes. A few years ago, I could never have envisioned enjoying a band like Sear Bliss but, low and behold, I have finally come round to this sweet melodic sound.
